Hugh Storr-Best (current grade 115) (Highest ever grade 170)
Hugh has watched many of the Worlds famous GM's in action including names like Capablanca and Alekhine. Hugh has played against famous GM's like Reshevsky, Fine and Short. Hugh joined Emsworth after spending 16 years plus playing for Petersfield. Hugh Recently retired from serious chess but is still in good health.
   
Mike Krawczuk (current grade 164) (Highest ever grade 186)
Mike has had another good season maintaing his grade in the mid 160's. During 2004 he won the Portsmouth individual tournament. He scored an impressive 5.5/6 against a number of very experienced players graded over 160.
   
Dominic Tunks (current grade 173) (Highest ever grade 192)
Dominic is our board 1 player and is also currently the club's highest rated player.
Dominic started playing at Emsworth in 1979 and is the clubs longest playing member. Dominic is also a former Hampshire's county champion. Dominic has been Hampshire's team captain for quite a few seasons now and does an excellent job of coping with this difficult role. He recently guided Hampshire to 1st place in 2005/6.
   
Neil Harrison (current grade 120) (Highest ever grade 121)
Neil joined the Petersfield club in November 2000 and started to play in the league from January 2001. Neil won the Petersfield Club championship on his first go. Neil has moved to Emsworth along with the other ex Petersfield players. Neil has proved difficult to beat with 6 losses out of 34 games in the past three years in the Portsmouth league. These were all to higher graded players. Neil is currently unable to play chess due to career commitments.
   
Malcolm Body (current grade 160) (Highest ever grade 166)
Malcolm has left Emsworth Chess club after many years at the club and now resides in France. Malcolm still keeps in touch with other members and continues to play chess.
